Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme(RGCLP)

Under Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme (RGCLP), computer education is given free of cost to the students of class-V to class-X of the Government schools. The project was running in 1610 Higher Secondary/ High School and High Madrassas of Assam benefiting more than 10,00,000 students every year. This scheme was transferred to Education (Secondary)Deptt. from the year 2012-13.

Horizontal Connectivity

Guwahati MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) Project started in 2007 during the 33rd National Games, Guwahati with 100 Mbps capacity. Now upgraded to 1 Gbps backbone from 2009-10.

  • 817 horizontal links connecting various locations have been commissioned through their nearest PoPs across the state till now.

Assam Knowledge Cloud

For the benefit of the students, teachers and research community of the state, the Assam Knowledge Cloud, which is the first govt. cloud infrastructure in the eastern region of India, has been created successfully since December, 2012.

This Knowledge Portal which has been specially designed by AMTRON to provide links and references to various educational resources available on the Internet. This portal would be a one stop place to many popular content providers which gives a great value addition to these devices.

Computerization of Archive Library at Assam State Archive

During 2013-14, IT Deptt. implemented the "Computerization of Archive Library of the Assam State Archive" project. This project was launched by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam on 1st September'2014 and hosted in the website

GIS based resource mapping

The IT Deptt. implemented the GIS based resource Mapping project in 16 CD Blocks of Kamrup(M) & Kamrup District. Non spatial data and base map preparation are completed for 21 CD Blocks of Nalbari, Darrang & Jorhat Districts. GPS survey of these blocks are going on.

  • All the existing resources/ infrastructures like roads, embankments, educational institutions, offices, water supply schemes, health establishments, security establishments, public amenities etc. has been surveyed with photograph and integrated in GIS platform.
  • All Govt. Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY), beneficiary of Indira Awaas Yojana(IAY) and The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme (MGNREGA) has been surveyed and integrated in GIS platform.

Construction of building for State Data Centre

The State Data Centre (SDC) is intended to be the repository of all applications and data of the State with a provision for disaster recovery. The construction of SDC building is almost completed. RFP advertised by the PWD for internal works of the building. It is expected that the State Data Centre will be operational by the end of the current financial year.

AMTRON Data Centre

The Data Centre at AMTRON has been made operational on December'2012. This facility has been created as a staging and testing centre of the Assam Online Portal & Secretariat Less Paper Office Project capable of providing Data Centre Services. The CCTNS & Assam Police Recruitment Applications of Assam Police. The SP&SSDG, e District, Assam Online & SLPO Project of IT Deptt., Assam Knowledge Cloud, GIS applications are hosted from this facility.

IT Park

The IT Department initiated an ambitious scheme for setting up of an IT Park at a plot of land measuring about 100 Acres at Bangara Village near LGBI Airport under Palashbari Revenue Circle of Kamrup district. The said plot of land was handed over to AMTRON by the District Administration, Kamrup on 22nd March'2013. During 2014-15, a common two lane (30mtrs width and 477mtrs length) approach road from NH37 to the IT Park and IIIT, Guwahati plots at Bangara Village; Kamrup has been constructed.

Assam Online Portal & Secretariat Less Paper Office in Assam State Secretariat

The Information Technology Department has undertaken to implement an integrated work-flow and e-filing system (Secretariat Less Paper Office) along with an online portal (Assam Online Portal) for effective governance.

  • Assam Online Portal (http://online.assam.gov.in) launched on 24th February, 2010.
  • A Training Centre at Block-A of the Assam Secretariat has already been established for imparting training to the employees. Batch wise training of Assam Secretariat employees are going on from 26th of November'2012 to meet in-house training requirements of the employees. More than 500 officers and staff have been trained so far.
  • Connectivity established via OFC through micro-tunneling from AMTRON Data Centre to Assam secretariat. Backbone connectivity established between all the Blocks of Secretariat via OFC through micro-tunneling and surface.
  • LAN connectivity established in all Blocks.
  • Servers were installed at AMTRON Data Centre and deployment of IT Hardware is in progress in the Assam Secretariat.
  • The Software modules for delivery of services are under testing mode.
  • 6 Conference rooms augmented with video conferencing facilities.
  • Development of 40 nos of Assamese & Devanagari Unicode Font developed and integrated with SLPO.
  • More than 1000 files encompassing 14 departments of A,C and CM Blocks identified and converted to e files.
